1858 - 1954
The building of Trinity Powder Spring Church at Basye, VA was begun in Dec. 1953. Services marking the laying of the cornerstone for the new church was held on Aug. 29, 1954. By the help of members and friends near and far the church was built with an educational wing added later. Men active in helping with building of the church were Alex Moomaw, Mervin Dellinger, Dave Fansler, Granville Ryan, Stewart Barb, Jim and Charlie Hansberger, Mervin Funkhouser, Willard Fansler, Sturgeon Funkhouser, Perry Barb, Otis Moomaw, and Roscoe Funkhouser.
The first funeral in the new church was for Alex Moomaw. The Funeral Home brought chairs as the sanctuary was not completed.
The first Wedding was Jean Funkhouser to James Bowman (in the New Building).
