Steve is from Page County and graduated from Luray High School. He graduated from Lord Fairfax Community College in the first class. He later graduated from Radford College with a BA Degree in Recreation Administration. He worked the Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation from 1979 to 2014 (when he retired).
Steve was called to Trinity UCC to be their pastor in November 2013.
He has been involved in several local - district - state level activities:

- serves on the Edinburg Town Council
- United Church of Church - Steve has served in several positions at St. Paul's UCC in Woodstock; Vice-President of Shenandoah Association; served on the Central Atlanta Conference - Board of Directors and Moderator the Annual Conference in 2012 and Delegate to General Synod for the last two Synod (Florida and California)
- is involved with the 4-H program - local, district, and state levels. He is the State President of the Virginia Association of Adult 4-H Volunteer Leaders for 2015.
